TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Many houses that are located in crowded areas in Tomang, Grogol, Petamburan, in West Jakarta are using electricity illegally.
Following inspections by the state-owned electricity company PLN, district authorities and the police, 11 violations have been discovered.
“In only one hour of sweeping, we found many violations,” said Utoro, coordinator of power control for Grogol Petamburan Area, yesterday (23/3).
Utoro mentioned two violations that can be categorized as electricity theft.
“These include people connecting cables from power center to their homes,” he said.
Utoro explained that people often steal electricity from public facilities so it will be difficult for the government to find out.
